Four regions, plenty to discover
Vinho Verde is a region
The name does not describe green wine in your glass. The region produces several styles, including white, red and rosé. Start with Dona Paterna in our selection and read the grapes listed for each bottle.
For a first comparison, keep the food simple and unchanged between wines. This lets you notice the bottle without changing every part of the meal.
Dão: meet a grape and a producer
Look for Encruzado among the whites and Touriga Nacional among the reds. Quinta do Sobral offers one way into the region. Compare tasting notes, maturation and the occasion rather than relying only on the word “reserva”.
Discovering a white and red from the same estate is an interesting exercise: two interpretations of a place, rather than a competition between colours.
Douro beyond Port
Douro is associated with Port, but also produces still red and white wines. These are different categories, so check the wine type before buying. Explore Quinta Seara d’Ordens as a starting point.
For a gift, consider whether the recipient will open the bottle soon or store it. Do not assume that every wine from a region needs ageing.
Alentejo: more than one style

Build your own route
Choose two origins, set a budget per bottle and keep short notes. You do not need to open everything on the same occasion. For your next purchase, change one variable: grape, producer or region. Over time, this becomes a personal map for choosing and gifting.
